About the role
As a Field Surveillance Officer and working under the direction of the Surveillance Program Specialist, you will contribute your surveillance expertise to guide and support Environmental Crime Branch (ECB) and wider EPA operations. You will work within a highly experienced Team of physical and technical surveillance professionals in the development, implementation and execution of complex operational plans and strategies consistent with ECB investigation requirements, legislation, and EPA policies and procedures. You will be expected to operate across the spectrum of covert physical surveillance operations and can contribute to technical surveillance activities. You will develop and prepare evidentiary material and other documentation to support investigations, ensuring evidence obtained is appropriately and legally captured, handled, and stored.

  • The Field Surveillance Officer is a senior member of a team that works across the state in the conduct of surveillance activities to support the prevention, detection, and investigation of environmental crime.
  • This is a role for an experienced and qualified physical surveillance expert that wants to contribute to the success of the EPA as it enters a new era of environmental protection in Victoria.
  • As a Field Surveillance Officer within the newly established Unit, you will have a key role in the ongoing development, and the future direction of, surveillance within the EPA.
About you
You will have a formal qualification as a physical surveillance officer with contemporary experience in, and/or extensive knowledge of Law Enforcement or similar setting. As a self-starter who is always seeking to employ best practice, you are comfortable in being part of the research, development, and introduction of new or emerging techniques, methodologies, and technologies. You have the proven ability to work as an effective member of a small, cohesive specialist team within an organisation, and are prepared at times to take on the leading role. You are committed to the successful delivery of the highest organisational priorities and have proven capability to build and sustain enduring relationships to enable the collaborative delivery of outcomes and the achievement of goals and targets. You are dynamic in your ability to think outside the square and respond quickly to developing situations, are comfortable in trying new things, and have a genuine desire to learn, share knowledge and make a difference.
